It was back to winning ways as the Sikh Union 1st team put Ashby to the sword with a convincing 6-0 win. This extended the lead to 4 points at the top of the table having suffered a first defeat of the season last time out. A minute’s silence preceded the game in honour of Remembrance Day which featured an interruption from an Air Ambulance landing pitchside for a local incident. Around 20 minutes in captain Jag Bancil opened the scoring after Ajay Singh’s effort was saved on the goaline. Ajay doubled the lead as he dribbled around the goalkeeper to fire in. Ashby were then forced to play with 10 men as an injury benched their centreback with no substitutes available. Ajay then made it 3-0 just before halftime as his effort from the top of the D found the corner.
In the second half in did not take long to score again as Union pressed the Ashby defence and won the ball back, where Daya Bamrah’s cross was put away by Jag Bancil. Jag completed his hat-trick with a reverse goal, before Ajay set up Micky Hayer to tap in for Union’s sixth.
